Cabinet in its meeting on 24 June 2011 has given approval in principle to the development of Higher Education Hub in Pagoh (HPTP), Johor implemented PFI (Private Fund Initiative) where as Sime Darby Property Selatan Sdn. Bhd. (SDPS) as a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) has been given the right to design a HPTP according to the specifications defined by the Government, to build and set up facilities and maintenance of the building with financing borne by the concessionaire. The concession agreement for the four components of the project, namely the Polytechnic and Shared Facilities (KPT), UTHM, IIUM and UTM was signed on 7 November 2012.
HPTP is involved in the development of an area of 1,000 acres, which will be developed in phases. The first phase involves a land area of 500 acres. This involves the development of HPTP 4 Institutions of Higher Learning (IPTA), Universiti Tun Hussein Onn (UTHM), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and the Polytechnic Tun Syed Nasir Syed Ismail (PTSN). In addition, HPTP will also be equipped with Centralized Shared Facilities and Water District Cooling System in all building.
Development of Higher Education Hub Pagoh (HPTP) The concept of clusters (cluster) by institution, taking into account the centralized Shared Facilities (Shared Facilities). Common facility will be shared with every institution located in Pagoh Higher Education Hub and the local community. Common User Facility (Shared Facilities) is administered by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) under Section Special Projects HPTP Development Division.
